The Unbridled Materiality Of Sounds:

Also on the chopping block,
the wonderful sounds of French artist, Philip Jeck. Have you ever been on a late night road trip and decided to switch the radio to the AM side of the dial? Just as your breezing down the dark highway, that soft radio static seems to invade the song or talk show you're listening to? but you want to still keep on listening...and here comes that white noise again..creeping in over the audio and suddenly, rather than being an interference, those noises have created a whole new texture that somehow seems to frame each spoken word or musical sound being broadcast.

That is the same impression I get when listening to Jeck's brilliant "Vinyl Coda IV" album. It's the sounds of multiple turntables running ancient vinyl records..and that lovely snap crackle pop and small hits of radio static create a mysterious, lovely, haunting (some might even say "nostalgic") atmosphere. It's quite beautiful and perfect for a late night/early morning listening.
Turn this one up, also.

Do you have any more Philip Jeck? And if so, do they sound halfway as amazing as this? This is one of the greatest things I've heard in a long time...Thanks,
