Football, Not Soccer:
Two brilliantly named bands on this excellent slab of UK Anarcho folk pop punk. If bands like Snuff or Chumbawamba are your cup of greased tea, then this will be a tasty treat, indeed.
Thatcher on Acid (was there ever a better band name?) specialize in hard edged melodic songs that have a Billy Bragg meets Hüsker Dü vibe to them. They even do a (relatively straightforward) cover of The Wedding Present on here!
Wat Tyler seem to be in it to take the piss out of everything (including themselves)! They write some super sharp, spiky little punk songs that are both ultra-poppy and quite witty. Very memorable melodies and a few surprises.
YURP!

Is that record cover a parody of Fugazi,s Margin Walker. Anyho thanks for the great music.
haha. YES, it is. Glad you're liking the sounds.
Jay, nice blog...I've been like a kid in a candy store on here, so thanks! But...I was stopped in my tracks when I saw these. Somehow I own both of these 7" records, although I can't remember why....
I think the Thatcher record I picked up b/c of some tenuous (?) connection they had to Chumbawamba and Crass or something, plus the Weddoes cover seemed amusing. The Watt Tyler, well, Fugazi can use a little parody. Too bad the link has expired, but this post inspired me to break out the records. Fun stuff that I hadn't thought about in many, many years, so thanks for that!
