Never seeming to gain widespread popularity overseas (although they did have a track on "The Land Of The Rising Noise Vol. 2" compilation years ago), Tokyo-based band Gaji has always been behind the lines, pumping out solid rhythm-driven mathy music. The guitar work is unique and shows a really nice sense of restraint and timing. Gaji's singer is female and her vocals are along the lines of a spoken shout which gives the band a distinct sound somewhere in the sonic spectrum between Melt Banana and Shellac.
