One for the Jet-Setters:

Violent Onsen Geisha releases are close to impossible to find in the U.S., which is too bad, because they really are one of the funnier and more multi-faceted characters in the Japanese noise scene. Not nearly as single-minded and bludgeoning as Merzbow (although Merzbow's Masami Akita guests on a few tracks here), V.O.G. has a serious grounding in American trash cinema/mondo culture of the late '60s, as well as a heavy 'psych out' sound. This is much much more than a conventional 'Japanoise' release- there are some tasteful pure electronic drone tracks, some quite amusing attempts at heartfelt Japanese folk ballads, plus a Canned Heat cover(!?!)

Tune In
